What does “ludic” mean?

Ludic originates in Latin, meaning playful. We use it to refer to two distinct (yet overlapping concepts):

  • Ludic objects (playful objects which a teacher may utilize as materials in their classroom)
  • The ludic in you (a teacher’s playful disposition in regards to teaching methods, materials, and their mediation)
